In Grateful Memory of Professor Richard Schneider (1938-2022)

Richard Schneider (1938-2022)

With grief and thanksgiving for a life filled with love and dedication, we share with you that Richard Schneider, Past President of The Canadian Council of Churches (2003-2006), fell asleep in the Lord on November 11, 2022. We have lost not only a dear friend, but also a tireless, persistent advocate for Christian unity, Christ’s truth, and the church.

Through Richard’s life, we experienced the joy and mystery of the gospel, profound personal affection, and deep passion for the community of faith. May his memory be eternal, and may his wife Elisabeth (Lisa), family, and all who knew and loved him find consolation—as he did—in the life-giving hope of Christ’s resurrection.

All services for Richard will be held at St. Elias the Prophet Ukrainian Catholic Church and cemetery (10193 Heritage Road / Brampton, ON L7A 0A1). All who wish to say goodbye and pay their respects are welcome.

EDITED (11/15/2022): Please note that several members of Richard’s family are severely immuno-suppressed. COVID-19 social distancing and masking rules will be followed. If you have been exposed to COVID-19 or seasonal viruses in the past 7 days, or if you have symptoms of COVID-19 or seasonal viruses, we ask you to refrain from attending.
