Human Enhancement and Christianity: Two Upcoming Events in Montreal (October 24 and 25)

Human enhancement, the use of biomedical technology to morally improve individuals, raises questions and dilemmas concerning what it means to be human. The Canadian Council of Churches’ Faith and Life Sciences Reference Group (FLSRG) and the Canadian Centre for Ecumenism invite you to two events open to the public to discuss this issue from a Christian perspective.

The three papers that will be presented at each event can be found below:

[Program title:] Christianity and Making Us 'Better'?: Enhancement Technologies Human enhancement, the use of biomedical technology to morally improve individuals, raises questions and dilemmas concerning what it means to be human. Join us to discuss this conversation from a Christian perspective. What is moral bioenhancement? What impact does it have on Christian views of what it means to be human? Presentations will be in English with whisper translation into French. “Christianity and Making Us ‘Better’?” is being co-sponsored by The Canadian Council of Churches' Faith and Life Sciences Reference Group (FLSRG) and the Canadian Centre for Ecumenism. The Faith and Life Sciences Reference Group, comprised of delegates from all 26 member churches of the CCC, gathers and exchanges information about how biotechnology is changing our world. Operating from a Christian faith perspective, it seeks to provide a forum for theological reflection, public education, and advocacy.
