The Canadian Council of Churches continues to mourn the passing of our past president Dr. Heather Johnston of the Presbyterian Church in Canada.

Dr. Johnston, who passed in the closing days of 2014, was a devoted servant of God and deeply committed to working for justice for all God’s people—a commitment she displayed over a lifetime of service through the church. Dr. Johnston, in addition to serving as president of the CCC from 1979 to 1982 was also the founder of Oikocredit Canada, now a CCC affiliate member.

We are called to honour her memory by walking, talking and living her example of ecumenical and interfaith leadership in the world. May her life be a daily inspiration to us all.
