CCC strongly condemns attack against Syrian refugees in Vancouver

The Canadian Council of Churches strongly condemns the attack against Syrian refugees last Friday in Vancouver. This assault is against the spirit of welcome that Canada has historically extended—and continues to offer—to refugees from all parts of the world.

Deeply troubled by this incident, Canada’s churches reaffirm the words of Leviticus:

“You shall treat the stranger who resides with you as one born among you. You shall love that one as yourself.” — Lev. 19: 34
