The World Summit on Sustainable Development (WWSD) - 16 August 2002
Prior to the WWSD held in Johannesburg, South Africa, the Commission on Justice and Peace of the Canadian Council of Churches and KAIROS: Canadian Ecumenical Justice Initiatives sent a letter to Prime Minister Jean Chrétien setting out a proposed "Framework for Sustainable Communities".

Climate Justice: A Call for Canadian Leadership
Ottawa has 'moral obligation' to act on climate change - 14 June 2001
As church, environmental, First Nations and international development leaders, we are compelled to express deep moral concern with Canada's role in promoting an energy path that the world's most distinguished scientists conclude is dangerous and unsustainable.
We propose an alternative - that Canada takes a leadership role during international talks ... then develops an energy policy that supports this agreement. Climate protection policies must determine sustainable energy policies.

An ecumenical position on the Financing for Development process - 27 April, 2001
A letter to the Honourable Kofi Annan, Secretary-General of the United Nations, identifying key measures that the Canadian Council of Churches believes must be addressed in the 2002 UN Conference on Financing for Development and setting out proposals on ways to address these issues.
